Sparta, NJ
Internationally acclaimed tennis pro Marc Massaad contributed his time and talent at the "Youth Servathon", a non-profit event sponsored by Sussex County's Pass-It-Along, Inc.
Massaad, a tennis coach, instructor and consultant at the Sparta Athletic Club in Sparta was pleased at the event's success. "I'm a firm believer in dreams," says Massaad, whose global experience includes Director of Tennis for the Lebanese Academy for Tennis Development (LATD), Assistant Junior Davis Cup Coach and study at the world-renowned Tennis Études academy in Paris. Massaad says he enjoys giving back and sharing with other volunteers.
Invited to the United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR) 2000 symposium in Hilton Head, South Carolina, Massaad, Lebanon's official representative, sparked immediate interest and was hired at once to coach in the US. In meeting the USPTR criteria for selection to the worldwide symposium, Massaad's recognized leadership and integrity in developing tennis programs for the less fortunate did not go unnoticed. Nominated for several awards, Massaad also participated in the 2001 Arthur Ashe Kid's Day as a professional tennis instructor. Massaad is an author and has written the manual, Discover the Wonderful World of Tennis in 23 Lessons, which is being translated in several languages for use throughout the world.
When asked about why giving back is so important, Massaad said, "To be successful in sport and life, you must keep thinking about your destination...It's about setting high standards, believing in yourself, and fostering an earnest expectation about realizing your dreams." Massaad continues to use his power on, and off the court to influence others - helping them plan and reach their destinations.
